The annual Virginia Humanities Conference brings together individuals from
Virginia colleges and universities with an interest in the humanities and a desire
to participate in a scholarly exchange of ideas in a broad, interdisciplinary context.
The 2009 Virginia Humanities Conference aims to examine what we put on
display, how we display it and why.

We invite proposals for papers, presentations and performances by artists, scholars,
teachers and students of the humanities. Topics could focus on how displays reflect
or affect social change; how developments in media influence the display and the
reception of texts; new avenues of research pertinent to display; controversies of
display; critical interpretations of displayed texts; or any topic relative to the display of
the human condition.
